What is the Stick handheld mic?

The Stick is a handheld presenter microphone with an ergonomic design that provides a comfortable grip, ideal for presentations and speeches. With its pick-up-and-talk functionality, it's easy to use, allowing speakers to focus on delivering their message without any distractions.

The Stick handheld mic is one of the three wireless microphone transmitters that connect with the Hub DSP receiver and can be bundled up to create the Catchbox Plus system that best suits your needs.

RED_0091. On/Off Switch

The On/Off switch is not visible or easily accessible in the everyday use of the Stick mic. Stick mic is unmuted automatically when picked up from the charging dock and muted again, when placed back on it. While not in use, the Stick mic is expected to stay on the charging dock therefore switching it on and off is unnecessary.

When it is needed to switch the mic off and back on again, here is how to do it:

  1. Push the bottom part of the lever, located on the back of the Stick. That will lift the upper part of the Stick and release the Clip.
  2. The On/Off switch is located under the lever on the back of the mic

2. Pairing

Stick handheld mic is already paired with the Hub Receiver before shipping.

In case the mic is not paired or you need to initiate the pairing on your own, here is how to do it.

3. LED indicators

The 5 LED indicator line on the front of the Stick shows the battery level.

The LED indicator on the back of the Stick will show:

    • No light at all: The Stick is not powered
    • Green light: The mic is on and paired with the Hub
    • Orange light: The mic is on but not paired
    • Orange and blinking: The mic is in pairing mode

4. Battery life and Charging

To charge the Stick mic, place it on the charging dock until the magnetic pins of the Stick and the dock are aligned and snap into place.

When fully charged, the battery life of the Stick mic is 8 hrs.

Stick mic charging docks can be daisy-chained to optimize the use of power outlets, supporting up to six slots = x6 Single-dock chargers or 3 double-dock chargers.

5. Power Saving Modes

Stick has the following power saving modes:

Low power mode - enabled when Stick is not placed on the charging dock and isn't moved for 30 minutes.
    • Wake it by simply picking it up
Shutdown mode - enabled 2 hours after the Stick has gone into Low Power mode.
    • Wake it by placing it on the charging dock or using the On/Off switch

6. Mute & Unmute

Quickmute function with a single button allows for easy muting and unmuting of the Stick mic by the presenter.

The Stick is unmuted when picked up from the charging dock, allowing presenters to simply grab it and start speaking immediately.

As soon as it's placed back on the charging dock, the Stick is unmuted and begins charging.

7. Out of Range Alarm

Stick mic has a built-in out of range alarm, which alerts the user when the Stick is taken out of range (further than 100 m / 330 ft) and the radiolink with the Hub is lost. This helps prevent situations when the presenter unintentionally leaves with the mic potentially causing operational issues for the AV team.

8. Features and Connectivity

  • Equipped with a built-in pop filter, the Stick mic ensures clear audio transmission by keeping "p" and "b" sounds from popping up and causing distractions.
  • Inside the top part of the Stick mic is a focused omni-directional microphone that captures clear audio.
  • Stick mis has a built-in frequency response detection, which helps it automatically adjust to different speaking styles, distances and voice characteristics. It is especially important for handheld microphone use where mic placement and voice dynamics can be challenging to manage.
  • All the microphones in the Catchbox Plus system, including the Stick mic, operate on the DECT (1.8/1.9 GHz band) license-free radio protocol to connect to the Hub receiver.

9. Best Practices for Usage

Distance between the mic and the speaker

The recommended distance between the Stick mic and the speaker is about 10 cm /4 in. Thanks to our advanced audio processing functionalities, even if the distance varies or presenters move their heads,  or the mic around , it will still ensure great audio quality.

Create your own Stick Design

When ordering, make the Stick mic jacket (the colorful, top part of the mic) uniquely yours by customizing it with your university's, company's, or event's colors and logos.

Cleaning the Mic

To clean the Stick mic, use gentle wet wipes and pat the mic dry with a paper towel after cleaning. Important to avoid using any alcohol-based cleaning solutions.
