Mix Configuration Explained

Mix Configuration is where you decide exactly which sound sources (Inputs) go to which speakers or recording devices (Outputs). It is the digital routing center that allows the Hub to manage different audio needs in a room simultaneously.

Where on the Hub can you find this?

Mix Configuration is found within the OUT section for each specific output port:

For RCA
OUT -> MIXOUT -> RCA -> Output Settings -> Mix Configuration

For 3-PIN
OUT -> MIXOUT -> 3-PIN -> Output Settings -> Mix Configuration

For USB
OUT -> USB -> Channel Settings -> Mix Configuration

What is it for and why?

In a typical setup, you might have up to four Catchbox mics, a computer connected via USB, and an external media player or secondary laptop connected to the AUX port. You don't always want every single one of those sounds playing through every speaker.

It gives you total control over signal flow without needing an external physical mixer. Because each output has its own independent Mix Configuration, the Hub can act as multiple mixers at once, sending one blend to the room speakers and a completely different one to the remote audience.

You use Mix Configuration to create custom blends for different purposes:

  • In-Room Speakers (RCA/3-PIN): You might want all 4 microphones and the computer audio (USB IN) to play through the room's loudspeakers so everyone can hear the presentation.
  • Video Conferencing (USB OUT): For remote participants on Zoom, Teams etc., Hub is designed to send only the audio from Catchbox mics. To ensure the best experience and prevent technical loops, the USB IN signal (sound coming from the remote participants) is automatically excluded from this path. This means remote participants will hear everyone in the room perfectly without hearing an echo of their own voices.
  • Assistive Listening: You can use an output (like RCA) specifically for an assistive listening device and configure it to only include the presenter’s microphone, leaving out other mics to ensure maximum clarity for those who need it.

Factory/Default setting

By default, all Plus system mics are enabled for every output. To keep your initial setup clean, AUX IN is disabled by default on all outputs. The same applies to all Dante inputs (if you are using Hub with a Networking module).

As a safety measure to prevent feedback loops, Hub is designed so that USB audio cannot be routed back into itself. Therefore, the option to route USB IN to USB OUT is not available.

Tip from Engineering

📣 If you connect a media player to the AUX port and don’t hear anything, remember to hop into the Mix Configuration for your specific output and toggle that input to Enabled.
